SCC Men’s Club Learns About Boxing & Parkinson’s Disease

By Jay Sparkman

Eric Allen, founder of EA Fitness, LLC, and leader of the local Rock Steady Boxing organization was the guest speaker at the July luncheon meeting of the Sun City Center Men’s Club. Mr. Allen, a certified geriatric exercise expert, told of the need for senior citizens to exercise and how specific exercises help the body to balance, safely fall, and enjoy better general health. Mr. Allen related how the program, Rock Steady Boxing, helps those afflicted with Parkinson’s Disease attain a better life through the boxing skills and other exercises developed by Rock Steady Boxing. The boxing exercises are available to residents in the South Shore area and sessions are held at Sun Towers. More info can be obtained by calling Eric Allen, 813-321-8755 or Debbie Caneen, Sun Towers, 813-634-3347.

The SCC Men’s Club is open to residents of Sun City Center and Kings Point. For info about becoming a member call Jon Lehr at 813-260-3058.
